I created the Tunnel Project for my "Loss of Identity" themed IB Art Exhibition.
I wanted to explore the effects of dementia. I transformed a storm drain into a living room, using handcrafted templates to apply fruit designs along the walls. As you move deeper into the space, the apples and oranges degrade into scribbles, representing the loss of the ability to differentiate between friends and strangers. The disorienting location, claustrophobia, and curved walls were deliberately chosen to evoke a sense of confusion and disorientation.
I sourced furniture and props from Goodwill to create a space that felt like it belonged to an elderly person. The project was photographed upon completion.

I incorporated an old wedding photo of my great grandmother. She suffered from dementia in the last few years of her life, and the photo helped me connect the theme of the project to my personal experiences.
